Zac Zedalis has announced his candidacy for Alachua County Sheriff's Office in 2016.

Alachua County Sheriff's Deputy Zac Zedalis is continuing his campaign for Alachua County Sheriff despite being placed on administrative suspension last week.

An investigation is ongoing for a reported domestic battery incident that occurred last Thursday between the deputy and his wife, Sergeant Kathleen Zedalis, according to a report from the Alachua County Sheriff's Office.

Kathleen Zedalis, who works for ACSO, has also been suspended.

The incident is being investigated by the department internally and criminally.

According to court records, Kathleen Zedalis filed for divorce three days after the incident. Her attorney, Joshua Silverman, declined to comment.

Zac Zedalis’ campaign manager,  Scott Camil, also declined to comment.

Steve Jeppson, the campaign treasurer, said when he saw Zedalis yesterday, "he didn't mention anything to me about it or even...The campaign is continuing on."
